My name is Brittani Carver-Schemper. I’m an optometrist and the founder of Shine For Sight, a faith-driven nonprofit committed to restoring vision and expanding access to essential eye care. The name comes from Matthew 5:16 — “Let your light shine before others…” — a reminder that the skills and opportunities God gives us are meant to be used in service to others. For me, that calling is clearest when I’m helping people see.

My journey began in 2014 in Patna, India, where I provided eye exams for children in an orphanage and for local church planters. Watching people see clearly for the first time wasn’t just memorable — it clarified my purpose. Since then, I’ve been committed to reaching people who would otherwise go without basic eye care.

Millions around the world still struggle with poor vision simply because exams, glasses, or providers aren’t accessible. Shine For Sight was created to help close that gap by offering free vision screenings, comprehensive eye exams, and prescription glasses to underserved communities both locally and globally.

Our work is more than a medical service — it’s an expression of faith. It’s a way to demonstrate God’s love in practical, tangible ways by helping people see their world, their work, and their future with clarity.
